Hydrogel Dressings

The biomedical materials laboratory, Institute of biological and medical engineering, Guangdong Academy of Sciences, has constructed a kind of multifunctional natural hydrogel dressing with simple preparation and low cost, aiming at the problems such as incomplete function of skin dressing in clinic. The study was recently published in carbohydrate.

In this study, the researchers selected a kind of immune regulatory function β— The natural polyphenol tannic acid was loaded into the triple helix structure of the polysaccharide by annealing technology. The composite hydrogel with excellent physical and chemical properties was prepared.

The hydrogel has a certain temperature sensitive property, can slowly release tannic acid, and continue to play a hemostatic, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effects. Further animal experiments showed that the natural hydrogel could accelerate the healing of skin defects.

It provides a new way to construct the hydrogel with multiple functions, which can promote the healing of wound with multiple functions.
